Below are some Tips on your adjustable Cassettes. We offer .000, .031 and .063 pills to help with adjusting your axle lead for various tire brands and track conditions. We recommend using an adjustable cassette only on the Right Rear for tuning your Chassis. A left rear adjustable cassette may be used if desired.
Your Premier Chassis will come with .000 pills installed in the RR which is our standard axle position cassette. The left rear cassette is a -.016 forward cassette which again is our standard axle position.
There are a lot of opinions on what axle lead does but we will try and give you a basic understanding how axle lead can and will affect the kart to help you with a variety of tires. Driver size, weight and various seat configurations will play a part in your results. Always remember when making an axle lead adjustment to re-align your chain with engine sprocket.
1. Your kart comes with axle lead on the right side. This is our standard setting and has been but with an increase in tire brands and different wall constructions you may want to decrease or increase axle lead.
The standard setting is with .000 pill in RR cassette. It has demonstrated over the years to be a very forgiving and free rolling set up for most kart tracks. Always remember that when axle lead is changed you will have to re-align your front end to correspond with changes. We recommend to always scale your kart in a standard axle position to start with and make changes from there.
2. A forward movement of the RR axle will increase weight applied to the RR tire. -.031 and -.063 pill.
This changes the face angle of the tire through corner entry and exit. It changes the Driver directional attitude and will cause a shift of Center of gravity to right side of kart. Expect a higher grip towards right side of Kart. We recommend incremental changes to start with. .031 to start with.
3. A rearward movement of the RR axle will give the opposite effect resulting in a freer entry and exit.
+.031 and +.063 pill. This changes the face angle of the tire and also tends to move the Driver directional attitude and CG to the inside of kart creating less force to the RR while lessening grip to that corner of kart. We recommend incremental changes to start with. .031 to start with.
4. In closing, Tires and Tire preps will always be the quickest way to achieve grip that suits the immediate track conditions along with stagger and air pressure. Track size, corner radius and banking will always be a consideration in a set up. A well balanced kart will always aid you in achieving your best possible lap time. Good luck!
